Having a sandwich in Sydney is a totally different experience to having a sandwich in London. Us Londoners will make do with a pre-packed Boots Prawn Mayo, to hell with the fact the congealed mayonnaise is making love to the smallest and saddest looking prawns ever. However in Sydney, sandwiches are not merely fuel, they are works of art. Chicken with rocket, feta, pine nuts seasoned with a pomegranate & chipotle jus anyone?

So, it makes sense that when Sydney do a decent club night, they don’t stage them in a dingy sweat box. No, it’s better to surround your DJs and punters with dinosaur bones, fossils and an array of natural history paraphernalia. And this is what organisers of the “Jurassic Lounge” do at the Australian Museum, creating a unique and quite beautiful Tuesday evening for the more discerning Sydney-sider.

The Jurassic Lounge is now it’s third season of mixing music, performance and art against the stunning backdrop of the Australian Museum. This week has FBI Radio taking over and showcasing some of it’s favourite musicians and acts.

As always, click on the lovely photo above to purchase tickets for the night. It will, without a doubt, be a gourmet sandwich night.

*I apologize for the heavy handed sandwich metaphor bookending this piece. Not sure it quite worked*

Bombay Bicycle Club are coming to Sydney. The London based band of fresh faced indie boys, barely out of their teens, created one of the best albums of last year, A Different Kind of Fix which also spawned some of the best singles of the year too, including the one I have posted above.

They will be playing at the Oxford Arts factory at the end of March but tickets go on sale at 9am on Wednesday 1st February and I would strongly urge you to buy a couple.

You can buy tickets here by following this link http://admin.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=54210&caller=CAL&noadd=true&skin=

You know when you have found someone very special when they can quote vast swathes of dialogue from The Princess Bride. The film, which is 25 years old this year, has managed to find a special place with many of us; it’s a pure, uncynical joy with a tongue firmly in it’s cheek and it’s heart firmly in the right place.

So if you are already a fully fledged signed up member to The Princess Bride fan club or if you have managed to navigate the choppy waters of life and somehow missed it then Moonlight Cinema will be screening it in Centennial Park Paddington on Tuesday 31st January.
